During our Mission Trip to Kenya in August we planned to visit Channels of Grace Academy in Neema. On a previous trip some of our team members met Catherine. Catherine is the walking, living, breathing example of someone trusting in God. Catherine's dream was to use her family land to run a "Finishing School" for young girls, but God had another plan for her. Instead, her dream of a school turned into an orphanage/school for children who lost their parents, many to AIDS. At present 178 kids who range in age from 3 to 20 call her Mom. We met Moses one of her "bright stars" who came to Channels of Grace Academy at a young age and is now entering his last year of University where he is studying Commerce. Moses helps with the accounting and finances when he comes home from Nairobi and his classes. With no government funding Catherine and her kids live day to day not knowing where the next donation will come from that will provide food and money to pay her teachers. With this uncertainty, Catherine greets each day placing her trust that God will provide. Catherine is Giggin for God.
As a nice surprise, Tom Cameron from Guitar Church passed this photo along. Old guys like me will recognize Rick Derringer along with Rindo Starr on drums. I had the opportunity to meet Rick in Red Deer Alberta when he put on a clinic for Guitar Church. www.guitarchurch.com
